Get your moving priorities straight, so you can have a relaxing first night in your new apartment.
One of the niftiest packing tips to make your move easier is to create a priority box that is loaded with items you’ll need the night you move in and the morning after. Build this box into your moving plan to ensure an easy move with much less stress.
Consider these items to include in your priority box(es):
BEDDING – pillows, pillowcases, sheets, blankets, comforter
NIGHTTIME NEEDS – alarm clock, glasses, books, magazines
BATH LINENS – towels, washcloths, bathmat, shower curtain
TOILETRIES – soap, shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrush, makeup, shaving kit, contact lens supplies
MEDICATION – daily medications and vitamins
SMALL APPLIANCES – hairdryer, coffee maker, radio, laptop, cell phone
CLOTHING – pajamas, underwear and at least one clean, comfortable outfit for the next day
SNACKS – coffee, tea, pretzels, peanuts, trail mix, oatmeal
PAPER PRODUCTS – paper towels, plastic cups, plastic utensils
CLEANING SUPPLIES – all-purpose cleaner, sponge, bucket, trash bags
PET SUPPLIES – pet food, water and food dishes, dog bed, litter box, cat litter
ENTERTAINMENT – a good book, your portable computer or tablet, DVDs, playing cards, board games
Most moving tips recommend that you stash these items in a special box or two that you carry in your car, just in case your moving truck gets delayed. Plus, if you have these items on hand as part of your moving plan, you’ve got the basics covered in case you don’t feel like unpacking for a day or two. That way you can relax until you’re ready to begin the process!
